To Our Recent Visitors From Around the World

Thank you so much for visiting our blog and a special thanks to those of you have left comments or messages on our tag board.

I have added an email link to the sidebar, so feel free to email us if you have any questions about microtia or sugery.

To Brandy and Maria: I have sent you emails.

To Nelia and Clare: Thanks for the kind words. Nelia, congratulations on your baby! Clare, good luck on your surgery!

Dr. Reinisch is coming to our house tomorrow evening to meet us and six other families. Five are post op appointments (including ours)--one of which is for a hemangioma and the other for microtia. Two are consultations. How many doctors would do such a thing? He's a wonderful man. I'll update after we see him and post pictures. The stitches have fallen off the tragus and his ear looks great!

ETA: When I posted this I was the 9000th visitor to this blog! How cool!

19 Days Post-Op

You can see the redness and the swelling in the tragus have really gone down. Dr. R. called today and said the pics he has seen (from when the sponge first fell out) look good. He said that if we were in CA, he would remove the stitches in the tragus, but they are okay.

16 Days Post-op: Sponge Falls Out!

Well, I spoke too soon yesterday when I said the sponge was "slowly" working its way out. When I got home, I saw that it had moved quite a bit in the day. Then last night it fell out while he was asleep. There was a little blood on his pillow, but not much. I spoke to Dr. Reinisch about post-sponge care and there really is none. He doesn't have to wear ear plugs and he can swim right away.

Here's what it looks like:

Also, what do you do with a "dress up box?" You take out all the outfits and get in it:

Okay, well sometimes you can be talked into playing in the outfits. Here's pilot Miles:

Jack's First Haircut

We finally broke down yesterday and got Jack's first hair cut--at age 27 months! He is so different from his brother, who until recently, would FREAK when he got his hair cut. Jack was happy as a clam: he had a steering wheel to play with and a Thomas video to watch. Here he is before the haircut:

Here he is with a big fro after the stylist combed the hair out:

And afterwards. Wow, he looks SO different, LOL.

And some random pics of Miles. Here he is on the way to the "salon." Guess where we had lunch. I gained 2 pounds, I think, and only ate half my food. I do love me some grease, though!

And here is how we found Miles two different nights in the last week. The CD player next to him is on; the railroad crossing light, which is above him, just out of the picture is on; and the picture does not do true justice to the destruction of his room:

His ear is doing well. We contacted Dr. R. about the redness you can see in the last ear picture I posted. He said it's probably nothing to worry about, but prescribed antibiotics, just in case. It's still about the same shade of red, but not worse, so I think Dr. R. is right when he said it's most likely just part of the "natural healing process." Makes me feel better that he's on the antibiotics, though, just in case.

A Trip to the Farm

This weekend we went to Sunflower Farm and had a blast! What a neat little place. Here is a ton of pics.

Afterwards we bought the boys cute little tshirts with pigs on them and they threw in cowboy hats and bandanas for free. Yeehaw!
