4 Days Post-op

Here are pictures of Miles' ear today. It really doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, other than the occasional picking. He's still upset that he can't go swimming. Tonight we're allowed to wash his hair after we slather the sponge with vaseline. He needs it!

You can see that the bruising on his face is pretty bad. The next pic is the stitching Dr. R. made to get rid of the alopecia from the incision on the first surgery. It's healing really nicely.

And for comic relief, here are some pics of the boys eating their Tofutti chocolate "ice cream" sandwiches after dinner last night:

Hello Proud Parents,

Thank you so much for all of the info you post on this blog, I find it usefuly & informative!
My daughter has micoria ear when she's born. She's now 7 months.
I'd just like to know does this reconstructive surgery able to address the problem on both internal/functional and external/cosmetic area?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you. Miles looks great!

Dear Sheri,

Thanks for writing and I'm glad you found the blog useful. I'm not sure how to reach you, so hopefully you will see this. Please feel free to also email me with any questions you have at

The reconstructive surgery that Miles had addresses only the external/cosmetic ear. Unfortunately, it does not help his hearing. There is a surgery called a canalplasty that opens up the ear canal to help with hearing. Unfortunately, Miles is not a candidate for this surgery.

Congrats on your baby girl!
